Spring Has Sprung
Winter was long and not very friendly. We had purchased bags to put on the lavender in case of ice, and those bags were used! We had at least three winter storms that began with ice accumulation. David would check the lavender, and was pleased that the bags froze up around the plants and didn’t let the ice get into the stems.
We took the bags off after the last storm, and have pruned the lavender back ready for spring growth. Now it’s time to get things moving and ready for our first “You-Pick” in June.
Things to do:
Get this website up and running (Renee).
Get a drying shed built onto the old barn that will eventually become my shop/classroom (David).
Cut down trees along the road to make an entrance to the lavender field (David).
Order up flags and things needed to mark a parking area (Renee)
Get the field ready to plant 300+ more lavender plants which we have ordered (David)
Plant the above mentioned lavender plants (David and Renee)
Get my luffa tunnel ready to plant my started luffa in (David and Renee)
And lots, lots more.
